Congratulations to Andy Lawson who’s been named this year’s Voice Tracker of the Year. The annual award, supported by RCS, celebrates the world’s greatest voice tracking talent with previous winners coming from Canada and the USA.
This year was the most hotly-fought contest yet and it was Steve Harmon of Westwood One and the Country Radio Hall of Fame who claimed the top prize.
Melanie Martin from Ontario, Canada has been crowned Voice Tracker of the Year, supported by RCS.
We are delighted to announce that the winner of Voice Tracker of the year 2018 is Lyndsey Marie from USA! Amongst her many shows and stations, Lyndsey can be heard on on 93x in Minneapolis, and WFTK 96 Rock in Cincinnati.
Voice tracking the right way can not only make you sound live, it can free up talent to do other duties to make your radio station even stronger.
For presenters it also means flexibility when they record their shows. I don’t think the main criteria for any job should be the ability to sit in a particular chair for four hours everyday, so for Fun Kids the flexibility of VT’ing widens our available talent pool and allows us to keep hold of great hosts.
Voice-tracking is a tremendous asset, and can enhance every personality’s performance. It saves time in the actual recording of the breaks, allowing more attention in the preparation.

There’s now a new key skill now though: mastering voice-tracking. There’s doing it – and there’s doing it well. Those who proudly boast about not being able to VT shows puzzle me. Let’s instead admire and respect those who excel.
This is a time when every on-air break should count. Moving perfunctorily through a rapid-fire litany of station business is not the same as advocating for the radio station. Or for radio.
Reflection is the key to learning; these are the thoughts that resonate most deeply with me as I reflect on what talent should be thinking about this year.
